Why it's Important to Scoop Your Dogs Poop!

Why it's Important to Scoop Your Dogs Poop!

As a responsible dog parent, it is crucial to understand the importance of picking up after your furry friend. While it may seem like a simple task, cleaning up your dog's poop has far-reaching benefits for both your community and the environment. In this blog post, we will discuss the top five reasons why picking up your dog's poop is vital. Let's dive in!

1. Environmental Protection:

When dog waste is left unattended, it can contribute to water pollution. Rainwater washes away the waste, carrying harmful bacteria, parasites, and excess nutrients into local water bodies. These contaminants pose a threat to aquatic ecosystems and can lead to the spread of diseases. By picking up your dog's poop, you help protect the environment and promote cleaner water sources.

2. Public Health and Hygiene:

Dog waste contains numerous harmful microorganisms such as E. coli, salmonella, and giardia that can linger in the soil for months. When people, especially children, come into contact with contaminated areas, they risk contracting these infections. By promptly removing your dog's waste, you create a cleaner and healthier environment for everyone, reducing the likelihood of diseases spreading within the community.

3. Respect for Others:

Nobody enjoys the unpleasant experience of stepping in dog poop. Failing to clean up after your four-legged companion can cause inconvenience and frustration for your neighbors, pedestrians, and fellow dog owners. Keeping public spaces free of dog waste demonstrates respect and consideration for others, fostering a harmonious and enjoyable community environment.

4. Animal Well-being:

Leaving dog waste on the ground not only affects humans but also poses risks to other animals. Dogs are known to be attracted to their own or other dogs' feces, which can lead to the transmission of parasites or diseases. By diligently picking up your dog's poop, you help safeguard their health and prevent the potential spread of illnesses among animals in the area.

5. Legal and Social Obligations:

Many cities and states have laws in place that require dog owners to clean up after their pets. Failure to comply with these regulations can result in fines and penalties. By responsibly picking up your dog's waste, you fulfill your legal obligations as a dog owner and contribute to a culture of responsible pet ownership. You also set a positive example for others in your community.

Picking up your dog's poop may seem like a small task, but it has significant impacts on the environment, public health, and social dynamics within your community. By taking the time to clean up after your furry friend, you demonstrate responsible pet ownership and contribute to a cleaner, healthier, and more enjoyable environment for all. Remember, as dog parents, it is our duty to keep our surroundings clean and safe for everyone. So grab that pooper scooper, a bag, and do your part in making the world a better place—one poop at a time

Do you need some help getting organized for your walk?

I see so many people who tie poop bags on their leash when they walk their dogs, how stressful it must be to try and remember a bag every time you leave the house! Did you just read that and think "oh that is me and it is stressful"? If so I have just the thing for you!  This dog poop bag dispenser is so handy to have it not only holds and dispenses poop bags but you can keep other small things you need for a walk like maybe your keys or a few bucks if you are walking for coffee. The bag attached right to your leash so you are ready with what you need when ever you walk your dog.

Are you still holding your dogs poop bags after they have done their business?

Honestly that is the least favorite part of a walk for me is holding the bag after I have picked up the poop.  I actually don't do that any more because I use the bone shaped poop bag holder!  This is seriously my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE thing I take on walks with Bella.  Not having to hold the poop bag with my hands anymore makes walking so much nicer.  These acrylic bones are so easy to use just attach out to your leash handle and once you have picked up the poop and tied off the bag you can slide it on the bone holder and be hands free for your walk.

While we are talking about poop, I know it's not everyone favorite subject but as a pup parent it's a part of everyday life.  I'm sure everyone reading this is a responsible pet parent and picks up after their dog but the sad truth is there are people who don't.  Those people who don't pick up after their dog can ruin having pet friendly places like parks, beaches and other outdoor areas we would all like to continue to enjoy with our dogs. So if you see a poop that hasn't been picked up in a place you'd like to continue going to please pick it up and throw it out. Don't do it as a favor for the irresponsible person who didn't pick up after their dog, do it for me and for the other responsible pet parents who want to keep having fun with their dog at the beach, in the mountains and other amazing places.  I'll do the same for you!
