Unleash the Fun: Dog-Friendly Wineries in Southern California and the Central Coast

When it comes to exploring the world of wine, there's no need to leave your furry friend behind. Southern California and the Central Coast boast an abundance of picturesque wineries that not only offer exquisite wines but also extend a warm welcome to our four-legged companions. I recently asked our facebook and instagram followers for their favorite wineries and let me tell you a lot of our followers love wine so I got a lot of great recommendations!

So, grab your leash, pack some treats, and embark on an unforgettable adventure to discover dog-friendly wineries that combine the best of both worlds: great wine and canine companionship.

  1. Santa Barbara County: Nestled along California's stunning coast, Santa Barbara County is home to a thriving wine scene and a plethora of dog-friendly wineries. The region's Mediterranean-like climate and diverse landscapes create an idyllic setting for vineyards and wineries that warmly embrace dogs. Wineries such as Sunstone Vineyards & Winery, Presqu'ile Winery, and Fess Parker Winery are known for their pet-friendly policies, allowing you to explore their beautiful grounds and enjoy wine tastings while your pup frolics alongside you.

  2. Paso Robles: Paso Robles, situated in San Luis Obispo County, is renowned for its world-class wines and charming wineries. Many wineries in this region not only allow dogs but genuinely celebrate their presence. A visit to Tobin James Cellars, where dogs are greeted with treats and water bowls, or to Sculpterra Winery, with its pet-friendly sculpture garden, will leave you and your canine companion with lasting memories. Don't forget to check out the dog-friendly offerings at other noteworthy wineries such as Daou Vineyards & Winery and Eberle Winery.  If you like to listen to podcasts and want to learn more about Paso Robles wine country be sure to listen to "Where Wine Takes You" hosted by Adam Montiel.

  3. Santa Ynez Valley: The scenic Santa Ynez Valley, located in Santa Barbara County, is another dog-friendly wine destination worth exploring. This picturesque region is known for its rolling hills, charming towns, and exceptional wines.  One of the top recommended wineries was Kalyra Winery where dogs are allowed on the dog friendly patio to enjoy the winery views with you. Other wineries such as Rideau Vineyard (one the top 10 best dog friendly wineries on yelp) and Roblar Winery not only allow dogs but also have dedicated dog-friendly areas where you and your furry friend can relax and relish the beauty of the vineyards. Zaca Mesa even offers dog walks through the vineyards, check website for dates and availability.  Many wineries in the area also offer outdoor seating, so you can savor your wine tasting while your pup lounges by your side.

And don't forget to have your pup dress the part!  An adorable wine themed bandana is the perfect accessory for your next winery adventure!
